Aerospace & Defense
Translation for the aerospace and defense industry is a true example of partnership. Agnew has the expertise and understanding of producing contracts, proposals, and manuals under very specific conditions. Security issues in data transmission and retention are strictly enforced. We are experts in handling rush translations with strict deadlines, often working 24/7 with a team of multiple translators and editors in all languages. Here Translation Memory plays a key role to ensure consistency of terminology throughout the project. Agnew’s project managers are often sent to a customer’s site to interact with our in-house team and work in partnership with our client.
Client- One of the Largest Defense Firms in the United States with business relationship worldwide.
The Challenge
The company required translation of two 600 page proposals into an Asian language with strict, overlapping deadlines that included approval cycles and covered a holiday season. The material was to be translated as it was written by the client’s engineers and returned in batches for approval to the client. The project included production of graphics in the Asian language and desktop publishing of the both proposals.
Solution
Agnew cast a team seven translators, two editors, desktop publishing personnel, and two project coordinators. Agnew also provided guidelines to the client’s proposal writers as to how to best prepare materials for translation, developed a glossary for consistency of terminology, and used the translation memory to ensure consistency of terminology. One of the project managers with the knowledge of the target language was sent to the client’s site to work with the engineers producing the source text and interacting with Agnew’s project manager. Agnew set up a secure site for data transmission between the two facilities and worked in shifts over the holidays to deliver the project on time.
